Lending Library Overview
The ASI Library was established in October 2004 with approximately 100 resources. Today we house over 700 autism related items available for lending. In addition to books we also have DVDs, Books on CD, educational toys, games and software available to borrow for a three week loan period. Library users are welcome to stay and use the specialized computer software such as Boardmaker to create choice boards and picture communication schedules. We also have available a computer with internet access, a printer and a laminator (for a min. charge). Teachers can access library material through the inter school courier system (please call for details).
Lending Library Policy
There are no borrowing fees or memberships required. You are required to fill out a registration form and sign a lending policy agreement prior to borrowing items. We do limit the number of resources that an individual can borrow at one time. The lending period is generally three weeks and renewals are premitted as long as there are no requests for the material. We require notification if you would like to renew your material. We currently do not charge overdue fines but we ask that you kindly return the material by the due dates so that other individuals can benefit from the resources. If material is not returned in a timely manner you will be contacted. If material is not returned or is returned damaged you will be invoiced for the replacement costs.
