ASI Receives Green Shield Social Surplus Funding
ASI received a $5,000 grant from the Green Shield 2010 Social Surplus Program. This funding was designated to support the 2010 Autism Summer Program. The $5,000 was put towards the new one-to-one classroom that was added to the Windsor program. There are now 45 clients in the Windsor Program and 12 in Essex. Thank you to Green Shield Canada for helping make this possible.
The Bruce Awad Summer Program
It is with great pleasure to announce that the official name of the ASI Summer Program is now The Bruce Awad Summer Program. At the Annual General Meeting of the Board on June 14, 2010 a motion was passed to rename the program after its creator and founder, Mr. Bruce Awad. Mr. Awad started the program in 1984 and was its dedicated leader for many years. Over the years Mr. Awad has demonstrated a long standing commitment to those in the community with autism and their families. Read more about the history of ASI here.
Community Invited to Open Houses
The community is invited to the ASI Open Houses on Tuesday, August 10 from 1pm to 3pm at Notre Dame Catholic School in Windsor and on Wednesday, August 11 from 12:30pm to 3pm at Holy name Catholic School in Essex. The Open House provides a great opportunity to showcase the activities the children participate in throughout the summer as well as raise awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Please join us for refreshments and a BBQ.
